About Long Branch Trail

Distance: 1.7 Miles

Winston-Salem’s newest greenway, Long Branch Trail is a paved, north-south greenway that connects the Innovation Quarter with miles of greenway along Salem Creek and Salem Lake. The greenway helps connect lively downtown areas, including Bailey Park and restaurants, to Old Salem and Salem Lake. The Long Branch Trail is open to walkers, joggers, cyclists, people walking dogs, or pushing strollers. This greenway is a perfect spot for a short but active stroll or bike with your kids when you have plans near downtown.

The former Norfolk and Western Railroad in downtown Winston-Salem has been converted into a 1.7-mile paved trail. Its name, Long Branch, comes from the old African American neighborhood that once occupied a big portion of the present-day innovation district. A connector trail links it to the Salem Creek Greenway. The Trail is open to walkers, joggers, cyclists, people walking dogs, or pushing strollers. Given its location right in the heart of an economic hub, it makes for a convenient conduit for employees and students to move around the Innovation Quarter.
