The Quarry at Grant Park

The Quarry At The Grant Park offers quiet tranquility and beautiful views just minutes from the downtown skyline of Winston-Salem. The park's main draw is the overlook pier that extends over the eastern side of the quarry, offering views of the dark blue quarry water, flooded treetops, and the famous Winston-Salem, NC skyline.

About The Quarry At Grant Park

Winston-Salem’s new Quarry Park is a sight to behold. The park is built around an old quarry that was in operation from the mid-1920s until the early 1970s. After the quarry shut down, the deep hole created by rock mining filled with water. The former Vulcan quarry property has been improved with walking and bike trails, a restroom draped with crushed rock, and a platform offering views of the quarry, downtown, and nearby mountains. The public restroom tucked under the observation platform at the new Quarry Park is lined with large gravel, not too different from the gravel produced by the old quarry for use in the construction of the nearby Business I-40 and U.S. 52. The park just completed construction to help improve the space by adding paved parking spaces, two shelters, more restrooms, and a quarry/mining-themed playground.
