Washington Park Dinosaur Playground

Washington Park may be the one place that meteors never struck because dinosaurs roam the playground making every slide, swing, and climbing obstacle prehistorically fun.

About Washington Park (Dinosaur) Playground

If you didn’t know this unique playground existed, you would have a very hard time realizing such a wonder existed in your own backyard. This prehistoric dinosaur park is only a short 5-minute detour off I-40 (exit 193C heading West and 193A heading East) and it is absolutely worth the trip. Once your children see the dinosaurs and the exciting structures they will not run away from these dinosaurs, they will run toward the fun.

The playground is definitely better suited for older children (5+). It still is an excellent stop for younger children as well. It does have several structures and obstacles that make for strenuous climbing and are better suited for expert climbers, so make sure you stay close to your younger tots while they play. There is a great swing set or two as well for excellent swinging with a dinosaur view. You can also get up close and personal with the beasts and the kids can even use loose sticks to brush the Trex’s teeth.

The playground also has an excellent dog park nearby, a walking/jogging track that is part of the Salem Creek Greenway as well as public restrooms and picnic areas. This makes for a great stop for families of any size.
