Nido & Mariana Qubein High Point Children’s Museum Exhibits

The new children’s museum in High Point has so many exhibits, you can get lost for a whole day. Guests can spend the day checking out areas such as “Kids Point” a town modeled after High Point, or explore life on Mars at Mars Academy. The exhibits go beyond just an indoor play place…they’re designed to expose kids to a wide variety of career options which include the sciences and technology. There’s a STEAM lab where visitors of the museum can work on robotics, design, and building. On top of learning, kids can also play to their hearts’ content on multiple climbing and play structures, a double-decker carousel, and more!

Children’s Museum Exhibits – First Floor

Dinosaurs & Sculptures

You will see countless dinosaurs at the entrance along with multiple bush-like sculptures of bears, giraffes, deer, and more!

Gallery

Guests enter the museum through the Gallery on the first floor. You’ll see a glass elevator and the solar system suspended in the air. Here, you’ll find a giant train table modeled after High Point. Children wave down from the porthole 20 feet above. To the left, they see a town just their size to explore. To the right, a chair as big as a car towers over the entrance of space waiting to be discovered. Beyond the smiling face at the front desk stands a giant climber they will scale as high as they dare.

Courage Climber

Beyond our welcome desk is the vertical, two-story Courage Climber. The climber safely challenges children of all ages to problem-solve, think spatially, and most of all, be kids with other kids. They can choose different paths to climb just a few feet or all the way to the top on the second floor.

GiNormous

Turn right, and you’ll find GiNormous—the big tot space for little kids (ages 4 and under). This big room for little kids was inspired by the World’s Largest Chest of Drawers. A child’s bedroom has gone through a magical transformation; small things are large and large things are gigantic. Enter under a giant chair, climb inside the chest of drawers, and slide into a laundry basket. Play with shadows under the bed. A storybook reading nook and crawler area offer parents a comfy place to watch their children explore safely.

Water Works

Water Works offers splashing fun water tanks filled with layers of science, engineering, and phenomena to explore. The smaller tank is the perfect height for young children with gentle water falling from rain circles, a fogging waterspout, and Bernoulli spouts to balance balls. The larger tank offers boat racing, a working dam modeled after City Lake Park in High Point, a track that drops balls into a vortex, rapids, and a ball launch.

Kids Point

Kids Point is a kid-sized town with a restaurant, fire truck, grocery store, pet clinic, production studio, and furniture design lab.

  • Shop for groceries, stock shelves, and run the register at The Market
  • Take orders and serve up tasty meals at The Kids Point Restaurant
  • Douse fires from the Kids Point Fire Department Fire Truck
  • Explore veterinarian medicine and care for animals at the Pet Clinic
  • Produce, direct and star in a show at the WHPU-TV studio
  • Service a race car by changing tires, replacing parts, and working in the pit crew at the Speed ‘n’ Shop
  • Test chairs, create their own unique design with fabrics, molds, and more at the Furniture Design Studio
  • Play the roles of dentist, receptionist, and hygienist while learning how to pull a loose tooth and become a star flosser at the Dental Clinic.

Hall Of Mysteries

In the Hall of Mysteries, guests explore secret passages, find clues, solve multiple mysteries, and discover hidden periscopes, a secret bookcase, and ancient artifacts including Mayan relics and a rotary phone.

The Cinema

Catch a fun show or live demonstration in the Cinema. The cinema seats 68 people and offers an enormous screen that will feature fun, educational, and inspirational films about our universe, world, and community. Daily shows are included in the admission price.

Outdoor Adventure Zone

Head out to the Outdoor Adventure Zone. Search for real fossils in the Dino Dig under the gaze of giant dinosaurs; play and learn in the open-air amphitheater; monkey around on the playground, and explore the butterfly and pollinator gardens.

Two-Story Carousel

Memories are made here as the whole family can ride together. Our two-story carousel can carry 76 people at a time. Children will choose to ride chariots, fantasy horses, and other whimsical wildlife including dolphins, alligators, and seahorses. With movement and music that carries through the entire park and bright lights, the carousel will be one of the first exhibits guests see as they enter the children’s museum.

Children’s Museum Exhibits – Second Floor

Mars Academy

At Mars Academy, cadets are introduced to life aboard a space vessel and can explore the red planet! At Mars Academy, cadets are introduced to life aboard a space vessel, imagining themselves in the module with their crew as they manage their personal hygiene, measure their Mars weight, zip themselves into a sleep sack, report to Mission Control, and practice their flight skills. Trainees monitor and maintain multiple life support systems, service a Mars terrain vehicle, and study rocks from the terrain.

STEAM Lab

Check out the STEAM Lab powered by High Point University, where you will discover, build, and conduct experiments. Try coding, building, and racing cars on the track, and launch items in the Hover Tube. A flexible space where children create, invent and build as they learn. Activities include programming robots in the Robot Arena, designing and testing fast cars, and building objects to launch and hovering in the Launch Tube.

Bricks Room

From engineering competitions, machine-building, and robotics, to free building and storytelling with LEGO, this lab offers the blocks to engage, challenge, and interest children.

Art Studio

Each week staff and volunteers will offer a new project for visitors that spark creativity, imagination, and fun. Young artists will learn techniques such as collage, watercolor, weaving, building with reusable materials, and more.

Classroom

Special programming will be offered in a large classroom and a multipurpose room on the second floor. Here, future teachers from High Point University’s Stout School of Education will inspire children and lead learning adventures.

Super U Fit Lab

At the Super U Fit Lab, climb the jungle island obstacle course and learn how to keep your body super fit. Climb through the jungle island course, scale the cityscape rooftops, balance stepping stones, and wiggle your way through paths while testing your superpowers at the “Super U Testing Stations.”

More Exhibits

In the More Fun Exhibits area (we’re still working on the name of this fun space), you’ll learn about sign language, water safety, fishing, and more.

Big Kids Room / Arcade

In the Big Kids Room (designed for all kids), older kids, especially, will enjoy the TikTok Lounge, Tablet Counter, arcade games, and more!

Multipurpose Event Rooms

Two Multipurpose Rooms offer spaces for birthday parties and more programming.
